Dan Caudwell, Deputy Technical Manager at Milton Keynes Theatre has won The Mayflower Award for Outstanding Achievement in Stage Crew at the Technical Theatre Awards at the PLASA Show 2013. PLASA London is the world’s premier audio and entertainment lighting event, held annually at ExCeL London. Founded by PLASA in 1977 it has  been a driving force in supporting the development and promotion of the professional entertainment technology industry for over 35 years.

The Mayflower Award was created for the industry to highlight an individual within any role of the stage department who have made an outstanding contribution and effort to their discipline and who have earned a high level of respect among the technical theatre community in the UK.

Dan has been working in the industry since 1998, when he began as casual stage crew at the Mansfield Palace Theatre. He spent some time working in Menorca as a sound and Lighting Technician and spent several years touring on various No.1 tours including a short stint in the West End. Dan has worked at Milton Keynes Theatre since 2006

Mike Keane General Manager at Milton Keynes Theatre said ‘We are delighted that Dan has received this award.  He is a real asset to the team.  I regularly receive incredibly positive comments on the expertise and professionalism of the technical team from visiting companies here at the theatre and this reflects how well respected within the industry they are’

Earlier this year Jason Wright, Technical Manager at the theatre, was also recognised by the Ambassador Theatre Group as Technician of the Year in their own internal Health & Safety and Environmental Awards
