It is Ella’s last day at primary school, and her last chance to show that she is more than just the shy new girl in the area. She hopes that her mum will get to see her race, but that looks about as likely as her team winning gold. This touching and funny musical follows a class of year 6 students and their teacher, Mr Budge, in a story of falling over, getting up and carrying on.

Award-winning playwright Lisa Evans has adapted her original text especially for the Youth Theatre’s production. A cast of 30 young actors aged between 8 and 18 will be joined by choirs from Moulton Primary, Blisworth Primary, Paulespury Primary, St Andrews Church of England Primary, Cedar Road Primary and Spring Lane Primary Schools, in a unique countywide collaboration. The sports day unfolds with competitions in cycling, archery, high jump, gymnastics – and plenty of running – as pupils discover for themselves whether it really is the taking part that matters most.

Run! is performed on the Royal stage from Thursday 27 to Saturday 29 June at 6pm, with Friday and Saturday matinees at 1.30pm. Tickets are priced at £8.
