Theatre looks for talented local children to take part in A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Northampton’s Royal & Derngate is looking for talented children from the local community to join its professional cast in its production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream which runs from 19 April to 11 May.  Auditions will take place at the theatre on Monday 25 February.

Director Gary Sefton, who recently directed A Christmas Carol at the venue, is looking for girls and boys aged between 8 and 14 years old no taller than 5’ 2’’ to play fairies in his production of the classic comedy.  The boys and girls need to have good movement skills, and singing and acting ability, as well as being enthusiastic and having bags of personality. Rehearsals start on 18th March, and children must be available for rehearsals and performances as scheduled until the show finishes on 11th May.

The auditions take place on Monday 25 February with slots available from 5.30pm till 8pm and parents must pre-register, by Thursday 21 February. There are only 60 places available.
