Austen’s Women at Harpenden Public Halls on Thursday, 18th April
Thirteen of Jane Austen’s most celebrated female characters are brought to life in this bold revisiting of the most exciting moments from Austen’s ‘two inches of ivory’. In scenes of high comedy and moments of profound pathos, Lizzy Bennet, Emma Woodhouse, Marianne Dashwood and many more, fall in love, alienate their friends and commit notorious improprieties. Using only Austen’s words, Rebecca Vaughan offers a brilliant and illuminating distillation of 19th century feminism.
Talented Herts based writer/performer Rebecca Vaughan is making a name for herself with one-woman shows that please audiences and critics alike, judging from a clutch of five-star reviews. This week her sell-out show ‘Austen’s Women’, inspired by her favourite writer Jane Austen of course, is making a welcome return to her home county, with a performance at Harpenden Public Halls on 18 April.
Judi Herman has been to meet Rebecca at her home in St Alban’s, please click here to hear the interview: [AustensWomen Rebecca Vaughan]]
